Decorating with Color, Silk Flowers, and Creativity
Maximizing your Space DIY-Style
It can be costly to redecorate and redesign your home. With the cost of paint, fabric, and furniture, it can cost
several thousand dollars just to redecorate a single room. These days, all you have to do is turn on the television
to see that budget decorating is the newest trend. But for some, even a $1000 investment to redecorate a single
room is more than they can afford. Is it possible to have a stylish, beautiful home that doesn’t cost a small
fortune? Absolutely. With some initiative, you can have a cool space to call home that doesn’t break the
bank.
Get Ideas
Interior decorators really know what they are doing when it comes to design.
But most of them
are beyond the reach of the average home budget. And, you really don’t need an interior decorator to find great
ideas for your new design. Most homes have a small library of home décor magazines so take some time looking at
yours and take note of the designs you life. If you don’t know what your personal style is, take note of the
commonalities between your favorite rooms.
Use Things You Already Have
Redecorating doesn’t have to mean buying all new furniture. Take stock of the pieces you have. Maybe it’s old and
outdated. But with some simple updates and a new arrangement, you old pieces can feel new. Update your arrangement
by pulling pieces away from the walls and creating better traffic flow. Paint or refinish old, wooden pieces.
Freshen up the look with a few inexpensive accent pieces and throw pillows. You can get a brand new look in just a
few hours!
Catalogues are not Your Friend
If you do decide to add some new pieces to your furniture mix, stay away from catalogues. The prices of brand new
furniture are shocking and they rarely hold their value. All you have to do is buy one new piece to break your
budget! You might be surprised at the great things you can find at garage sales, flea markets, auctions, or thrift
stores. You’ll find interesting, vintage, and even antique pieces for a fraction of the cost. You may even be able
to find some almost new furniture for cents on the dollar. You could literally save thousands if you resist the
urge to buy new pieces.
And, use your imagination when shopping for second-hand pieces. An unremarkable side table or frame might be
spectacular with a fresh coat of paint.
Color your World
If you want a new or more cohesive look, a new wall color might do the trick. Color works wonders, so be brave and
don’t shy away from bold colors. Also, a few silk flower arrangements can give your existing décor that
photo-shoot-ready look at any time of year. Silk flower arrangements can brighten up a
work space or bathroom with no maintenance or care. And, you can choose your favorite flower varieties regardless
of the season with silk flowers.
Don’t Rush
Do-it-yourself decorating save money but it can take more time. You can save money by waiting for sales on
materials and products and leisurely shopping for the best furniture pieces and prices. However, the results are
often worth the wait and you’ll love it even more because you did it yourself.
