Christmas Bouquets and Arrangements Make the Season
Bright.
You’re
getting ready to go to the holiday party of the year. You
have a new dress, your hair is perfect, and the excitement
of the season has infected you. Your best friend and
neighbor down the block throws great parties, and her
holiday parties are the best all year.
Her home is gorgeously decorated, with twinkle lights
tastefully scattered throughout the house, beautiful Christmas
accents abound. A darling Christmas village takes up residence
in the hall every year, and miniature Christmas trees adorn
each bedroom. The scent of cinnamon is in the air, along with
the smells of fresh cookies, nutmeg, and pine. Most impressive,
however, is her use of silk flower bouquets and arrangements
scattered throughout the house - even out on the deck!
Guests (especially new ones) are always amazed and impressed
with the welcoming atmosphere of your friend’s home, and you
are never surprised to overhear them whispering to each other
about the gorgeous flowers (and what a fortune it must cost to
have so many fresh flowers in the middle of winter!) throughout
the home. Since she’s your best friend, you know that her
flowers are all silk; but such natural and realistic looking
bouquets and arrangements that only her intimate friends know
the difference!
As always, your friend’s party was a huge success, and a great
kick-off to the holiday season. What’s more, you’ve decided
that it’s time for you to take a page from her book; you’re
going to decorate with silk flowers as well. Since it’s your
turn to host the family dinner this year, you want to go all
out and have a welcoming atmosphere that will give your friends
and family the feeling of Christmas and the memories to last a
lifetime.
Of course, you’ll have to see to a Christmas tree; but that’s
nothing new. You shop for a tree every year at the local tree
lot, with proceeds benefiting the youth group. You’ve got a
great tree, it’s up in the living room window, and the lights
and garland are on. This year, maybe you’ll decide to let your
guests finish the decorating by hanging the ornaments. (It’ll
be a great way to keep the kids occupied for ten minutes or
so!)
The menu is set; you’ll have a turkey in the oven and a spiral
ham from the shop down the street. The guests are all bringing
side dishes, and your bread machine is ready to go, with fresh
yeast and everything. Cookies have been baked, and Grandma is
bringing the pies. Gifts have been purchased and wrapped and
placed under the tree, awaiting the gift exchange after
Christmas dinner.
The only thing you have left to do is to add the finishing
touches. Here’s where silk
bouquets and arrangements come in. You can go traditional,
with holly, poinsettias, and white chrysanthemums, or you could
stick to a color theme like the old reliable red and green to
decorate with. You could also choose a more modern look with
blues and silvers or reds and golds. Really, the choice is up
to you, and is only limited by your own imagination, taste, and
vision for the big day.
