Flowers Brighten Your Home with a Beauty That Lasts Longer Than Summer.
Think about the most beautiful flower you have ever seen. Remember
the first time you looked at
it. You stood there transfixed in awe of its beauty. How did it make you feel?
Roses are by far one of the most popular blooms - appearing
in weddings, on holidays, and in every bouquet a husband has ever brought home for an apology. Is it any
wonder? Some would say roses are the most beautiful flowers ever created. Imagine the scene after a light
rain, the sun just begins to peek through the clouds, and the rain drops sparkle on the tips of the petals.
What a glorious view. A rainbow is in the sky. Birds are singing, and you can almost feel the warmth of the
sun on your arms. Maybe it's Mother's Day. You think of picking the biggest blossom and taking it to your mom.
She would love them.
Whenever you see a rose, don't you just think of that kind of day filled with
sunshine, the smell of spring, and a warm smile from Mom?
You have a beautiful rose garden in your backyard. In the spring, the yard is filled
with the wonderful sweet scents. You would love to have them in your house, but they wilt too quickly.
In years past, roses filled the vases throughout the house. They were placed in an
area where the color scheme matched the decor. After a few days, the beauty began to fade. The realization soon hit
that you would have to change flowers at least once per week. This was a routine that was impossible to follow.
Fortunately, silk flowers look as good as the real thing.
What? I know: Silk flowers, those stiff dust-collecting caricatures, have the
audacity to imitate a real flower. They remind you of every visit to the dentist office. His assistant would put
you in that scary chair by the table with instruments of torture. As the dentist came toward you with the drill,
you could see 1970s gold in a basket. It was his wife's fault. She thought she was a decorator. Unfortunately her
idea of decorating was gold metallic leaves surrounding stiff yellow flowers on stems of green plastic. They felt
more like cardboard than silk. I'm sure that is a vision you would like to forget.
Another memory that you can't get past is your visit to your grandmother's house.
She had one silk arrangement for over 20 years. It was red and gold roses covered in dust. Plastic apples were
interspersed among the plastic green stems. The edges of the flowers were frayed.
Have you seen silk flowers lately? They truly come in all shapes and sizes and
colors too. Silk flowers are now made with much finer quality fabric than in years past. Designers spend a lot of
time and go into great detail to ensure they look as lifelike and as beautiful as the real thing.
It's not just silk flowers. Plants made of silk are a big seller these days. It's
the designer's paradise. Plant and flower arrangements do not only belong in the sun room or the greenhouse. They
can be placed anywhere in the house as an accent to a picture on the wall. If you choose to accent your decor with
live flowers and plants, you have to remember to water them. If you don't have a green thumb, plant leaves will
turn brown and start to fall off the plant. Silk plants and flowers do not need any water. Leaves stay green and
never turn brown. Flowers retain their softness and vibrant color.
Let's go back to the beginning. We were talking about your favorite flower. How do
you feel now? Are you thinking about a special memory? Hold on to that thought.
You can keep that appreciation for beauty around you all year long. You won't have to
cut silk flowers, or weed them, or water them. With the busy schedules we all keep these days, who has time for all
of that maintenance anyway? Silk flowers and plants are the perfect solution - lifelike blooms and foliage that you
can enjoy every day, without the work.
