Silk Flowers for Guests’ Luxury and ComfortJacinda Little
Company Will Feel like Royalty When you Surround Them with Silk Flowers

Is a pull-out couch or a futon in a cluttered room the best accommodation that you can offer to your overnight guests? Do your guests feel like more of an intrusion than an additional to your household?

It’s time to consider an upgrade to your guest lodging. Read on to learn how you use decorating savvy, silk flowers , and hotel tricks to make your guests feel so welcome that they’ll want to come back…again and again.

Fool-Proof Ways to Transform Any Room into a Guest Retreat

o Decorate with everyone in mind. Don’t paint the walls with a bold, bright color. Don’t opt for wallpaper that’s too busy or littered with large floral prints. This can be offensive to some folks, and can make it difficult to relax. Instead, choose earthy colors (brown, tans, greens), or cool, relaxing colors (blue, lavender) to create a comfortable feeling. Also remember that not all of your guests will be of the same sex or of the same taste. Keep it safe…not too feminine, and not too masculine.

o Provide window coverage choice. Some guests will prefer to let in the light, while others will be concerned with privacy. Cover windows with drapes that can be opened and closed, or with your choice of curtains and adjustable blinds.

o Add to the homey feeling of your guest room with strategically placed arrangements of silk flowers . Dressers, nightstands, and bathroom counters offer great venues for the displaying of natural looking silk flowers. If there’s a terrace or balcony off your guest room, some hanging silk flowers will add to your company’s outdoor experience. Silk flowers make great choices for guest rooms because they won’t aggravate guests’ allergies, and don’t require any maintenance from you (you won’t have to barge in to water the flowers). They provide maintenance-free decorating for a room that you may spend little time in, and sometimes even forget about.

o Freshen up. Your guest room may have been vacant for years, or the bed may have been occupied the previous evening. Either way, wash bed linens and towels in hot water, using a hypoallergenic detergent. Fold the sheets and towels neatly, and allow the guest to make up their own bed and hang their own towels. That way, they know they’re sleeping on fresh sheets and using fresh towels.

o Stock up. Make toiletries available to your guests. Keep incidentals, like dental floss, toothpaste, a new (in the package) toothbrush, soap, shampoo, a shower cap, deodorant, pain reliever, a stain remover pen, and a sewing kit in a designated place. Most guests will come prepared with all of these items, but things can be forgotten.

o Keep them connected. Most folks have cell phones these days, but if you suspect that a percentage of your guests won’t, have a phone line installed in the room.

o Effortless entertainment. Make a deck of cards, your favorite paperback books, picture albums, and DVDs accessible. A small entertainment library in the guest room will give your visitor plenty to do during down time.

o Make sure your guest doesn’t feel trapped. Provide a phone book, maps, attraction pamphlets for the area, and phone numbers for a cab service and the local visitor’s center.

o Hang it up. Make sure that plenty of hangers (at least 6 for each day) are in the closet. Don’t force your guests to live in wrinkled clothing. An iron and ironing board aren’t bad ideas, either.

o Think hotel. Mimic the philosophy of hotels, and you’re sure to hit your mark. Or, go above and beyond hotel normalcy and make a real impression. Provide luxury items, like scented soaps, body washes, new robes and slippers. Provide small appliances like a hair dryer and curling iron. Make a laundry hamper, dressing chair, vanity, and empty dresser available. Plus, a coffee maker, teapot, and morning newspaper are also nice ways to say, “Welcome.”

Your Guest Room is for you, too

Remember that your guest room is an extension of your home. It should complement your taste, as well as make your guests feel at home. Make it as simple or as extravagant as you wish.

Don’t forget the silk flowers and plants . They’ll be an integral part of your guest room’s décor, are a great way to welcome your guests, and will surely create an environment that invites guests back - for many happy returns.
