Make Your Prom Unforgettable with Silk
Flowers.
Silk Prom Flowers..for Memories That Won't
Fade.
I can remember almost every detail of my prom. My date's crisp
tuxedo, my royal blue of--the-shoulder gown, the pearly
limousine, dancing to“Stairway to Heaven". But two things I
can't recall - my corsage and his boutonniere. Were they made
from roses? Lilies? Hmmm-I'm going to have to pull out those
pictures.
I can’t think of a better reason to purchase silk flowers for the prom. Who couldn't
use a little reminder of one of the most magical nights of
their young life?
Silk flowers give you the option to pack that corsage or
boutonniere away in the attic (for the occasional stroll down
memory lane), to display it in your home, to pass it on to your
son or daughter, or to use it as part of a fashion ensemble.
The possibilities far outweigh those of prom flowers that will
die within days.
The Silk Flower Corsage.
A corsage is any single flower, or small bunch of flowers, used
to accessorize a lady's ensemble. Prom corsages can be pinned
on at the shoulder, at the waist, in the hair, or onto a
handbag. They can be tied with ribbon to the wrist, the neck,
or the ankle. Even a small hand-held bouquet is acceptable.
Corsages are generally made up of tiny roses, rose buds,
carnations, orchids , lilies, baby's breath, and/or greens. They
can be simple or complex, depending on the flavor of the
young lady's gown and her own unique taste.
Traditionally, a young man will purchase a corsage for
his prom date.
It's important to remember a few things when
purchasing a corsage. First, know your date's gown color. The
color of the silk flowers in her corsage should either match or
complement the shade of her gown. Be careful with reds. For
instance, if her gown is a red that leans toward orange,
conventional red roses might clash. If in doubt, go with a more
neutral pick, like white or champagne-colored silk flowers . You might want to surprise her with your
flower choice, or you can ask her what she would
prefer.
Your date’s dress style should also be taken into consideration
when making or purchasing a corsage. If her gown is strapless,
a silk flower corsage designed to be pinned on the shoulder
would be less than ideal. If her gown is ornate, covered with
sequins or other embellishments, a pin-on can add chaos to her
outfit. When in doubt, a tie-on corsage (with a ribbon that
doesn’t clash) is your best bet. She can choose to wear it
around her neck, wrist, ankle, or handbag strap, where it won't
interfere with her most important fashion element.
No matter the type of silk flower corsage you choose, it should
always be worn on the left side of the body (the same side as
the heart).
The Boutonniere.
A boutonniere is worn in the button hole of a young man's prom
tuxedo. Like the corsage, it can include one single silk flower
or a small bunch of silk flowers. Rose buds, small orchids, and
small lilies are popular flowers for use in boutonnieres.
The boutonniere is traditionally purchased by a young lady for
her prom date, and can be matched to her corsage or her
gown.
The young man’s silk flower boutonniere should be worn in the
buttonhole of his left lapel.
Silk Flowers are Prom-Perfect.
Prom flowers are an important part of an enchanting evening.
Choosing and pinning on your guy’s boutonniere, or buying and
tying on your girl’s corsage, is a romantic and thoughtful way
to begin a wonderful night.
Why take a chance with authentic blooms? With silk prom
flowers, you don’t have to spend time on prom day picking up
flowers. You don’t have to get them to a refrigerator to keep
them fresh. You don’t have to worry about what to do if you’re
not satisfied with the corsage or boutonniere you ordered. And,
you don’t have to be concerned about whether your date will be
allergic to the blooms you choose.
Take it from me…a former promster…buy silk flowers for your
prom. You can easily order them online - well in advance of the
event. You’ll be able to ensure that they complement the gown
and tuxedo, and that they are exactly what you had in mind.
Most importantly, silk prom flowers will be around for years to
come…in whatever capacity you choose to enjoy them.
